We have little information on William other then what you see in the previous line.
In the Memoirs of Lois Clarinda Twichell, some statements are made that, when put together, indicate that William came to Minnesota after 1864 and prior to 1871. In fact, due to the date of the death of Elizabeth and the mother, Mary Barradell, that it is doubtful that Sophia and William who we know came to Minnesota together, would have left before the death of their mother in November of 1864. That leads me to think that Sophia and William left in early 1866 to come to Minnesota. If Elizabeth was not married, and as she was also quite ill, it is more then possible that Sophia and William never left until after her death that was believed to be sometime in late 1865. I do not think that they would have crossed the Atlantic during the winter as it was an extremely hazardous journey in the winter months, just as it is today. Sophia was married in 1871 to George W Frost so this makes Williams presence their known at that time. We do know from the Memoirs that William was in Minnesota in 1877 when George Blackwell (10.2.4) came down from Canada for a visit. Also, the property that was purchased beside George Blackwell (10.2) by James W Blackwell in 1873 is thought to be our William. It should be noted that we know of no other Blackwells in the area other then our own. However, a Blackwell purchased land directly adjacent to George (10.2) This seems more then coincidence. We do know that a James W Blackwell was married to a Emma V. with a 3 year old son and found living in Alexandria, MN in the 1880 Census. (The same place Sophia and her husband lived) Also, Henry Blackwell (10.2.5) and an Emma V. Blackwell are shown together as witnesses to a family matter. This seems to be strong evidence that Emma V. Blackwell is part of our Blackwell family, and thus, makes James W Blackwell as part of the family. Again, not a true confirmation, but enough to work with until such details are available. Further information regarding the death of James or Emma are not found in Minnesota. This would be correct as we know they went to Washington State and it was there that our William died in 1917. We are quite confident that we have found our William as James W. Blackwell. James was listed as a Carpenter in the Census.________________________________
