George Blackwell
Photo taken in 1894 (age 24) during a parade.  It appears he is holding a Piccolo.
A photo of Ed McGannon was also taken with him in the same uniform and the same parade.

George is the eldest son of John Blackwell  10.2.3 and Mary Jane McGannon.
He married Grace Sawyer on 25 Feb 1903 in Central City, Iowa.  Grace was the daughter of Pliney Sawyer and Georgie Dubbs.

George Blackwell  10.2.3.4 was the editor of the News Letter in Central City, Iowa and also the Winnebago City Enterprise in Winnebago, Minnesota.  After moving to Powhatan County, Virginia with his wife's family, he worked as a proof-reader for the Richmond Times Dispatch in Richmond, Virginia.  Later, after moving again to New Kent County, he went to work for the Prudential Insurance Company in Richmond.
He died at the office of the Insurance Company in Richmond (1932)

Note:  Confusion existed over the birth date of Henry 10.2.3.4.  He was listed as born in 1876 but the 1870 census said age 0 (less then 1 year) in 1870 and in the 1875 census he was listed as 5 years of age.  This puts his birth date at 1870.  This information would have came from his parents so I have taken that year as the correct one.  The other son, John was born in 1872 (and is listed as 4 is the 1875 Census) so this obviously confirms George prior to the birth of John Jr.  Also, Henry had three older sisters at the time of his birth.  The one just preceding him was Mary Josephine who was born in 1868 and is recorded in the same 1870 Census as age 7.  Confirmed - Henry was born in 1870.

Note:  Richard "Dick" L. Blackwell Sr. attended John Marshall High School in Richmond, VA. with his brothers.  Dick enrolled in the 1931 class at the College  of William and Mary, where he sang in the men's Glee Club.  He left College to move home and support his mother after his father died.  In 1941, after the birth of their son, Dick and Clarice moved to Richmond, where Dick continued with the Sate Police.  In 1957 he suffered a heart attack and resigned the force.
He was elected Essex Co. commissioner of Revenue in 1958.

Richard Blackwell (10.2.3.4.3.1) lived in Richmond, then Tappahannock, VA. until 17 years old.
He was called "Dickie" throughout early years.  He attended Virginia Military Institute (VMI) for one year (1959-1960) then married Beck Haile and transferred to Virginia Polytechnic Inst. (VA Tech), and graduated with bachelors in Civil Engineering and Masters in Sanitary Engineering.  Both older sons were born during college years.  He worked for Dewberry and Davis Engineering in Vienna, VA.  In 1974 he attended Erskine Seminary in Greenwood, SC. and after graduation with Master of Divinity degree, entered the ministry in Harrisonburg, VA. in 1976.  He established Church in the Valley, later Grace Covenant Church, and helped several mission churches get started.  In 1994 he started Blackwell Engineering with two older sons, then retired from senior pastor at Grace Covenant to devote more time to business and other ministry work within Grace Presbytery.

Thomas M. Blackwell (10.2.3.4.3.2)  lived in Tappanhannock, VA. until he was 18 years old.
He was called "Tommy" throughout his early years.  From 1970 to 1974 he attended the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, with a Naval ROTC Scholarship; became "Tom" at college and graduated with a degree in Chemistry.   He married Lillian just before graduation, and then was assigned temporary duty stations at Chapel Hill, NC., Virginia Beach, BA., and Bath, ME.  He finally was assigned to the USS Mahan (DLG-11) in Charleston, SC.
He traveled to the Mediterranean Sea and circumnavigated South America between June 1975 and December 1977.  His next duty station was USS Dale (CG-19) from January 1978 to August 1979.  He was deployed for eight months in the Med. during this time.  He attended Computer Applications School at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, MS. through December 1979, then stationed at the Pentagon until Dec 1982.   He left the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant, then went to work for Computer Sciences Corp. in Falls Church,, VA. supporting work for the Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.  He served the U.S. Naval Reserve from Apr 1983 to 1991.
He retired as Commander.

Information
Lucy Keller, sister of Ruth Keller wrote a letter many years ago.
Donna Krumrei - Blackwell received it from the Minnesota Historical Society.
Lucy tells the story about the two brothers coming from Canada to Minnesota, etc.

entirety as soon as we get a copy of it.

Faith Blackwell was the youngest in the family of John Blackwell. 
She was the first postmaster of Silver Bay, Minnesota.
